So I've heard of service birds, what do they actually do/help with? Are they kind of like service dogs but birds and kind of do the same thing? I'm just curious about them. I know I have aspergous syndrome and epilepsy but that doesn't really mean anything. Could one be any help with them.......

I assume it is similar to service dogs, but I think the only useful task a parrot might do is sound the alarm if someone comes to the door - my Alexandrines certainly are good at that! Parrots just don't seem to have that need to please us that a dog can have - they have a more independent nature from my experience. I do know of parrots being taken to nursing home type environments, similar to dogs, to provide an enrichment for those in such homes. Would have to be a very trustworthy parrot though - in America it seems to be mostly Umbrella Cockatoos that are used. cheers, Mike

If they are service birds then it requires lots of training which I think against nature.
