Hi all, I'm looking at getting a male Scarlet-chested Parrot and just had a few questions for people who have had these birds before. 1. Will a second male do for company or do they really need a female? Either another Scarlet or a Turk 2. I have read these birds spend a fair bit of the time on the ground, does this effect the way they get along with Quails? (The aviary I'm adding them to has a few already) Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

However two males and a female might cause some disruption, particularly if breeding starts. If you are planning on not breeding then two males is OK. Scarlets do spend some time on the floor of an aviary but there are no issues with quail in the aviary - they will ignore each other. cheers, Mike

I have had Scarlets in an aviary with a couple of quails and never had any problems, as Mike said they just ignore each other.
