Does anyone know how long after the mating the egg appears? With most parrots it takes 2 to 3 days for the egg to form following fertilization. An egg may appear at ant time even if mating has not occurred, however for a fertile egg to appear then mating should have occurred at least 2 days before the egg is laid. Sperm from a single successful mating can be stored by the hen for up to 2 weeks and still be viable and able to fertilize a developing egg. So if a male dies during the breeding season, fertile eggs may still be laid by the hen after his death for perhaps 2 weeks. cheers, Mike

The egg appeared on the fourth day but unfortunately it got a crack and she broke it up. Very disappointing. That was the fourth egg she has laid but nothing has hatched.
