Hi,
Just thought I would share some pics of my Red Rump Family. The babies pics were taken on Sunday 12 Jan 2014. I will add a second post with the parents pics.
Baby 1 & 2 have the same colouring as dad, Baby 3 has no red as yet and "he/she" is a few days behind the others. Is it worth having them DNA sexed??

The babies are looking good - from the apparent genetics they have to be female -however I am still unsure exactly what the female is. I would be the first to acknowledge my mutation knowledge of Red-rumps is not as good as it should be, They are a species I have never gotten into in a big way so never needed to. So, I guess I would go along with your pallid cinnamon suggestion.
If you do DNA them and they all turn out to be hens then that would confirm the genetics to a large degree. Also if you sell them a DNA certificate helps to make them more attractive to a buyer - and you add the price of sexing onto a normal price.
cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the info Mike, I have been considering the option of having them DNA Sexed as I would like to keep one of them for future breeding.
Thanks again

Today I checked on the babies today and the one in Pic 3 is red eyed whereas her siblings are dark eyed like the parents. This one still has no red feathers at all. I have decided that I will get them dna sexed as I am wanting to keep at least one (maybe 2!!!)

Here are some photos of the young red rumps. Got back the DNA Sexing Results and have ended up with 2 males (very similar colour to the dad) and 1 female (the Lutino!!!).
Will be selling the boys (pics are below) and keeping the female.
What are the best colour options to look at for future pairings of the lutino female??
Last week, picked up a pair of blue type red rumps. Thanks Darryl
