Hi everyone!
I have been researching several forums and this one seems to have a lot of well informed parrot owners so here I am.
We had a beautiful Princess Parrot turned into our clinic a clinic around 3 months ago. After a complete veterinary exam he was deemed to be healthy and well cared for. We advertised in the local area, Gumtree, our FB page, parrot alert, parrot society and pet alert unsuccessfully. After 2 weeks we had to either turn him into the RSPCA (where he would have been euthanised) or euthanise him ourselves. I chose option number 3 and brought him home to allow more time for his owners to contact us. After a couple of months passed we removed the ads and I have decided to keep him.
This is my first bird so I have been doing considerable research but still have much to learn. My desire is to provide a great home for him for many years to come.

Hi Tam and welcome to the Forum, and I'm glad the Princess has found a home with you. I have a pair of Princesses - the blue colour - which are around 17 years old and live in our family room with some of our other parrots. They are great birds, always full of the joys of life, always looking forward to new excitement and never getting too hung up on the past. They are pretty easy to care for - a good seed mix or better still a good pellet, with fresh vegetables and fruit - generally only small amounts of fruit due to the high sugar levels. They love a water spray - and giving them brows to chew on is a good idea as well. Feel free to ask any questions you might have and we will be glad to help. Photos are welcome as well - I will include a photo of my pair - taken about 10 years ago but they still look just the same. cheers, Mike
