Airlines will fly birds - I think both Qanta sand Virgin do but you would have to call them to find out - they would need the bird to be in an approved transport box, again they would supply details. You would need someone to take th ebird to the airport in Melbourne and collect it in Brisbane (I don't think they would fly birds into Gold Coast). Ideally you would meet the plane in Brisbane so you would be the one saving the bird after the trip.
Personally I would prefer to drive with the bird if that is possible. Most birds enjoy flying and you could make a couple of short drives for an hour or two so the bird becomes used to being in a car. It would very likely be less traumatic for the bird. Of course that means having a car big enough to take a cage big enough for the bird to be in for 2 or 3 days, and the other problem might be overnight accommodation since motels tend not to like birds in their rooms., so the cage and bird would probably need to be in the car overnight. Perhaps caravan parks might be a better chance in one of their cabins?
cheers,
Mike
