Hi, In my intro I mentioned l have had a very bad thing happen to one of my parrot's. Eight week's ago my jandaya conure killed my INR indi she was only two years old . jazz my jandaya is 4 years l had seen her resentment towards my white teal as well as indi l guessed it was beause of me but l think she was jeoulous because my male IRN often sat with indi the female** OK sorry will get to the point ! Jazz with out hurting prettyboy look's as if she is in love with him so she took out the competition Now her best friend has been jolee a sun conure the same age, l am worried is her life at risk ! Is their a chance she could turn on her friend I am now giving them a turn about ( out of cage ) I could not stand to find another family member killed like indi. Ps I do not know if possible for Jandaya & IRN to mate but can not have this happen. Please help

I am pretty surprised a Jenday would kill a ringneck - just how did it happen and did you see it happen? If she did kill the ringneck because she was a female and competing with her for the male's attention then I suppose the Sun is at risk if she also gets pally with your male ringneck. It would probably be possible for the Jenday and ringneck to try to breed but I doubt any babies would result, since genetically they are pretty remote from each other. I would suggest keeping the ringneck completely away from the conures - separate room - and so ensure that there is no jealousy between the two conures. cheers, Mike

BEWARE THIS WILL UP SET MOST READERS WARNING!!!!!!
Yes 100% sure jazz killed her she has been aggresive to my white teal, she bit one of her toes off so l moved them.
l mentioned indi was never keeped in a cage ( all way out.) But l never left indi in the room when the jandaya was having her time out. The day jazz killed indi the latch had been lifted she had grabed indi around the head her beak and tongue gone l never found either didn't sleep for weeks . My husband and family wanted to kill jazz but l have come to turms that this must be true nature and covering the cage not thinking jazz would open the cage *** l left my best mate to the murcey of jazz. I have now placed my indian ring neck in with my teal's as the girls may stay friends ( that is my sunny & jandaya )** but my home is full of stress l have split my flock and l don't know if this is the answer.. Please feel free to advise as l worry all the time :-(

I can't really think of any useful advice - it is something that is outside my experience and something I would never have expected to happen. All I can suggest is keeping the conures completely separate from the other birds. It is really strange, I can understand how stressful it must have been.
Best wishes, Mike

My conours are now spending more time in the out side avairy ( comming in at night ) thing's have been more settled the last few day's *jazz ( The killer ) has not bitten me since the male IRN is not seen with me . So l guess one thing to learn out of this mess, watch for warning signs , don't just dismiss any change in your bird's behaviour, never under estimate a hormonal female as just having a bad day . I hope others take note of this as l have had many peace full years up till now. Thank you Mike , love reading your great advice
