Hello everyone, forum newby here.
About an hour ago I found an injured Crested dove/pigeon in the park at the front of my house.
She was sitting out in the open grass which instantly caught my eye as unusual. When I approached she ran away, and I noticed one of her wings was hanging low. I caught her by throwing my shirt over her and carefully picking her up. There are some pretty keen cats in our block. Leaving her was certain doom.
I've popped her in a decent size cage ( that I acquired from a previous feral pigeon rescue ) with a bowl of water, a spray of millet and a cardboard box to hide in.
I'm pleased to say that, during typing this, she has emerged from the box and had a drink. She is now pecking at the millet and looking a lot more active. She is no longer 'puffed up'.
The wing is still hanging low.
I think she ( or he ) is part of a pair that nest in a large tree next to my house. I have heard lots of wing whistles so I think her mate knows she's here.
I know the general advice is to ring wires but I have had no luck with them in the past with birds.
Thanks for reading.... any advice appreciated.

Our vets here treat wildlife for free - perhaps yours do too?
