Hi! My name is Lauri. I live in Wisconsin. For about ten years now my husband and I have been raising chickens. Fresh eggs are the best. About three years ago, my husband and I got a zebra finch. He is such a lovey little guy. Then we bought him a mate and you know, it went from there. I now have four adult finches and four babies in the nest. When my daughter moved out of the house, I turned her room into an aviary. I then adopted a two year old quaker who has full run of the room. My hubby put an indoor outdoor screen door on for me so I can always see what's going on in there. Recently I bought two lovebirds. I have to say that I was completely pissed when I got them. First, they were in a cage wayyyy too small. To give you a rough idea, their nesting box takes up atleast a third of the cage. Second I see the lady was feeding them, as far as I can figure, birdseed that you feed outside birds. Then there's the kicker, getting a closer look in the nesting box, there was a newborn baby, and an egg or two. I didn't dare pry. The next day, two babies. I texted this lady and she had no idea there were babies. I guess that shouldn't have surprised me considering the condition I got them in. ? I wanted to move them into a bigger cage right away but decided just letting them adjust here, they already had enough upset. I really have no idea how to raise lovebird babies...... ? They are 10 days old now.
