My partner has a semi tame sulphur crest in a large aviary in our backyard. The aviary is situated up high and unfortunately when the cocky sits up the top of the aviary he can see all the neighbours backyard. He is housed with a long billed corolla and a major Mitchell. The second he hears someone or sees them the screeching starts and is constant not just in the day but also at night. I hate using the outdoor area because the second he hears voices and see us he starts and he can go for hours and hours and you are unable to hear the person next to you.. I have gotten toys for him to play with, spent more time with him, hes got a sand pit, I have tried fresh fruits and vegies, new braches, sticks, honky nuts, pine cones etc etc. I understand that these types of birds need a lot of attention and stimulation but what I would like is some suggestions on what others would do to help to stop the screaming when he hears other voices etc. I understand he will screech at certain time of the day but this is excessive and now we are getting complaints from neighbours so I am expecting a visit from the ranger next week. Half the roof is covered but the rest is all open. Should we try covering the other half of the roof to prevent him from looking into the neighbours yard? Is there something we can do to sound proof the aviary with? Or can other just suggest something else? The screeching is extremely stressful and I feel bad for the neighbours as it must be even worse for them. Thanks

try bringing the bird inside and covering the cage at night. A covered cage usually means bedtime, screeching thru the day? maybe the bird is just plain waiting some attention. Inside birds love watching what you are doing and feeling part of the family. I used to have a galah inside with a lorikeet. The lori became too dominant so the galah decided it was happy outside in her aviary. got sick of been pushed around and refused to leave her outside cage. She never makes any noise, the lori is covered every night and settles down quietly.
