Hi, I'm new to the forum and need some help from the experts. My dog had a baby Lorikeet bailed up in the garden yesterday which managed to climb up a small tree. I caught him and have him in a small budgie cage for the time being. I have raised a couple of different birds from small babies but I'm not sure how old this fella is. He seems to have tail feathers but they are quite curled or damaged. I had some hand rearing wet food which i put in a dish and he was trying to eat that but didnt look like he was managing too well. i have been to the pet shop and bought some nectar pellets and put them in his cage. they just ended up all over the bottom of the cage as I dont think he knew how to eat those either. This morning I mixed a little water with the dry mix but he doesnt seem to have eaten any. The only thing he has eaten successfully is pieces of pear. He had very watery poo yesterday and it was a little firmer after putting the pellets in so maybe he was managing to eat some of them? any suggestion as to what he should be eating at this age ? and how long do you think before he will be able to fly properly? Is it worth trying to return him to the wild or am I stuck with a new friend now? thanks in advance for your help Attachments:

Good luck, it's worth the effort, just speaking from my own experience. ~Lovielady
