Hey guys. I have recently taken in a lost Longbilled Corella that no one has claimed. It is tame, healthy and has a open metal band on one of its legs. I have been working almost everyday since I found him and have not had time to take him to the vet to see if he is chipped/registered to anyone. Long story short is that he is a gorgeous bird...but only to me. He turns around and bites absolutely everyone else which makes it hard to care for him as he is currently not living with me as my housewares did not tolerate the bitting. So he is with my boyfriend at the moment where he is unleashing his wrath and hatred towards anyone that isn't me. Is there a reason for this? I am not a bird person but he would happily sit on my shoulder and even let me pick him up. He is frightened of absolute every other person that has come near him. I'd like to understand that behaviour so that I can do the right thing by him and stress him the least possible until this weekend when I take him to the vet for a check-up and hopefully find who he belongs to. Is he simply just an untrusting young bird? Also what vets do you recomend for someone who lives in the North Shore/Northern Sydney area. I would like to take him to a specialist who can talk to me about biggish parrots like him as I am considering keeping him as a lifelong friend in the event that his previous owner is not found.
