Hello, just found a gang gang in Victoria in the middle of the road.
Young, within the first year. No damage is apparent, he grabs, spreads his wings, climbs and cuddles.
We have always owned birds and are capable of looking after him. He is currently in a quiet room with a heat pad in a private cage and will be taken to a bird vet in the morning.
Need to know what licences if any I need.
I have done reseach as we haven't had birds quite his size, any general care tips would be helpful expecially if they are personal experienced.
At the moment my parents avery is full of birds, so he will most likely be moving with me once he is settled and healthy.
I will train him, (have hand reered birds before) and allow him to roam around my room during the day, ensure he has lots of exercise.
Looking for feed tips (no problem with catering to a fussy diet as I have read up this may be needed for parrots to stay healthy)
Also, if you have thoughts on why he may have been just sitting in the middle of the road (it's cold and windy here) my current theory is that he wandered away from his parents as I know the species is prone to letting the young stay with them until they have new babies, went to the middle of the road, got scared or cold and just stayed put.
Really want to make the best choices for him, do what is legally right, but more then anything want to keep him.
Side note, in future I would love to get him a mate but would a small buggie or cockie provide good company? Do they want the company of other birds?
