I have had canaries in an outdoor aviary for several years now and have managed to breed a few over that time. However, last spring and then again so far this spring, eggs have been disappearing from the nests and I have found a few bits of empty shells on the aviary floor. I think I may have a canary that is eating the eggs although I haven't actually caught any ''in the act''. Is this a common thing and what do I do to get rid of the problem? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
