african lovebird and foreign parrot society are in bris.
in pet-shops here about 40 bucks an lb.
vicki, 12 isnt a bad price. but i wouldnt advise peachies. they can get vicious to other birds etc. as kim says. pit-bulls in feathers.

yes i agree that avairy lovebirds can be nasty, but overall i think budgies are nastier. but handreared lovebirds make fantastic pets, i start handrearing them when they are only fluff just before they get pin feathers and they are fantastic pets, i can't keep up with the demand.

You must be looking in expensive stores Simon! In the 2 stores I sell mine to, normal greys are 70 - 80 and then its upwards from there. The dearest is a wflutino which they sell for 159...mind you I get the same price from them for all my birds regardless of colour and they want to complain I am too dear!!!! Jo-Anne

im pretty sure the pet hypermarket said 100 plus when i asked there.
and im talking hand-raised remember.
1 store sells aviary at 40 bucks and hr at 100 plus. this ones at stafford.
pets paradise aspley/chermside sell aviary babies between 60 and 75. 100 if they tame it for you etc.

as for their being expensive stores i totally agree with you.
but theres 2 at chermside that are less pricey. they dont look good though. and 1 has a reputation in the pet shop trade of being a bit sus.

Are you talking about the Pet Hypermarket at Virginia? If so then you need to pay attention! That is teh store I sell my birds too and very rarely is there a tiel there that isn't mine. I did tell you that before when i offered to sell you a baby.I get $40 for them and they sell the greys from about $80. I went in there today in fact and they have 3 pearl pieds of mine and it will be the last as well. All 3 birds have had their tails chewed something terrible. It makes me look bad...there excuse if someone comes in will be to blame me and I know they looked in perfect condition last saturday when I sold them. I get so darn angry when this sort of thing happens!!!! Jo-Anne

well last time i was in there i asked the sales girl and she said they were selling for 100 plus. its been a while so i forget the exact figure. but for a normal looking bird it was certainly not as low as 80.
i wasnt in there shopping to buy.
i was just in the area and popped in.
they were asking 45 for a budgie according to the girl i asked.

jo,
the reason i asked you which stores is you said in your post 2 stores.
i could only remember you saying the pet hypermarket. so wanted to know the other one.
and i totally agree with your view on the birds condition when you went in.
its not right that you put all the work in then they let the birds get run down.

The other store I will be providing is Pets Paradise at Strathpine. The first birds are due to go over next week. I don't know their prices as I haven't provided with any yet. The Pet Hypermarket is a good store that is fast going downhill. Unfortunately the staff are changing constantly and the owner is getting too greedy. It was terrific when my friend was Avian manager there but since she left the birds just sit. She would have my birds sold within a few days of hittig the store but now they are there still over a week later. It is not good for the birds as no-one seems to handle them anymore and it really takes a constant handling in a store like that to keep the babies calm and friendly. They wonder why the birds seem frightened when they take them out to show a customer after they haven't been touched in nearly a week!!!! Not a clue some of them! Jo-Anne

from memory strathpine do a reasonable price round the 80 mark. or last year that was what i remember being told.
well the one i saw at the hypermarket when i was there seemed nice enough and the girl claimed she got them out daily. no way was the bird quite on the par of the domesticity i saw at your place though. yours are superb. :-D
but i can see exactly what you say about how bad it is for birds being unhandled for a week in a store.
all the best with strathpine. if the same staff as last year are there its tops. they showed a lotta interest in the birds. even had a store pet they used to help birds interact with people.
