I have been thinking of getting another bird for a few months and was actually going to buy a male eclectus. But since Bo died I am now considering a cockatoo. it has been about 20 years since I owned a sulfer crested 'too and back then I bought them from pet shops for about $50 (not hand raised either). I tamed them down into lovely pets, then one flew away (trimmed him but did not realise he could still fly and he got a fright when walking around the yard. The other one chewed my ex husbands prize possession (his stereo system) and the bird had to go. (he had no sense of humour).
I am not looking for a baby right at this minute, I know they would not be available yet anyway. But about how much would I be looking at paying for a handraised baby and any suggestions of reputable breeders in Queensland (probably would be better as I live in Qld). I am going to do a bit of research myself but thought I would ask some of the experts here too.
I will be training him like I do with Skye to do tricks and stuff and he/she will be going places with us (just like Skye) and be a part of our family. I do miss Bo and the fact she loved to be scratched and patted. Thanks for any advice.

When I owned one (or two actually) the licence was only about $5 and now I have been told you do not need one for them. But will be doing heaps of research before getting one anyway. Still thinking about it and trying to gets my info together first.

I don't know where you are in Qld but the pet shop near me has a sulphur crested cockatoo for sale which is mature but tame and talking. It is a very gentle bird and I know the pet shop owner well and he says the man who owned it is moving into a unit and can't take it. It is used to being out and about walking around the house and garden etc and puts itself back in his cage. If you are interested PM me you phone number and I'll give you the sop's name and number Bev
