I meant to ask this in my previous post, but forgot . Anyway a few weeks ago I was in a pet shop and a person and I got talking about eclectus and one thing led to another and I told him I was thinking of getting a male (had skye with me so he knew I had one already) he told me that the laws have changed and to own more than one eclectus I need to pay $500 for a licence to own more than one. Is this true? I paid about $65 for 5 years when I got Skye.

I'm pretty sure that's a crock! On my QLD recreational license I can keep an amount of 2 restricted parrots. and the eclectus parrot is one of them. So unless you intend to breed or get more of the restricted birds listed your safe!

That's Correct..........you can keep 2 restricted parrots in Qld under the recreational license however you not supposed to breed and on sell the young !!!!! That's my understanding anyway

That's bizarre, in NSW you can keep as many protected parrots as you like as long as you have the NSW Bird Keepers Licence. Every year we have to fill in a log book and send it to National Parks & Wildlife.

hello all well here in SA they have several classifications the you have the main one with is the basic keep and sell class 1 and then you have your specialist ones but every year you have to lodge a return and keep your permit updated but there is no limit in quantity as long as you abide by the housing laws (law that regulates cage sizes ) other than that you can pretty much do what you like except create mules hope this helps regards bill
