Hi Priscilla, The best time to buy gouldians is in the early new year, when last years young appear on the market, most gouldian breeders start thier birds breeding about now, through the warmer months, so they night be difficult to buy at the moment.
When you do purchase some, make sure they are old enough to be through thier first moult (fully coloured and a year old) as young birds that ar'nt are a bit if a risk. Even the cheapest gouldian's will cost about $20 to $30 dollars each, and they are not a bird I would recommend for first time finch breeders, they can be tricky if not kept in the right conditions.
Hope this helps a bit ;D
