Hi all, Just thought i would update the little ones i am hand rearing. After a rough 24 hours, 1 of the 2 we are hand rearing has now strengthened up, and is feeding confidently. Initially i thought the little guy would leave us, but he has hung in there. For those who dont know, our pair of tiels hatched 6. The first 4 are growing quickly and becoming quite strong birds. The last two were lagging, so on the weekend i pulled them from the nest and began rearing them. I would say the youngest may only be 8-10 days old. The parents are both normal, except for the tell-tale sign of yellow patches on the baclk of the heads to indicate split for . 3 of the littlies have yellow down, 3 have white. Someone on the old forum suggested the white down indicates white-faced? Having never owned white faced, this would be great! I will let you know how they all progress.

Hi Steve, white down certainly does indicate whiteface, congrats. So both the parents must be split for whiteface. Good luck

Update on the little fella's. They are both getting quite pushy and excited when i enter the room clinking the glass. Very confident little guys indeed!! I am very excited at the white-faced prospect. I have kept pieds, pearl-pieds, cinnamons, normals and lutino's, but never white faced!!!
By the way, Cbone284 and Cbone28 are the same person....

there is nothing more rewarding than pulling a baby from the brink its a true miricle they way these little fellows adapt to being handreared i still am in awe of how small they are and how strong they are, like the little budgie who almost died a trillion times he is now big and noisy and perches ect as much as i love the others he will be special as he was a battler way to go
