I have a 18mth old pair that seem to be eating the eggs that are laid Do have ahve any hope with this pair or should I be looking for another thanks Arky :

I have always wondered why birds to this,I havent had it done to myself as yet.I wander if it is that they grave for protien.They do need a bit more protein at molting time and egg laying..Maybe there diet needs to be change?Just a through.What is there diet at present...

It shouldn't be diet because I feed all my pairs the same and haven't had any trouble with the other pairs

Are they eating them or just breaking them?My be you could foster there eggs and give them dummy eggs for a while.It could break there habit (maybe)..I dont know where you get the dummy eggs from.But I do know that some use them here..

Yep - I've heard dummy eggs help to stop them eating eggs.
It could be a calcium deficiency as well. Or it could be another culprit, like a rat. Rats leave tell-tale squarish puncture marks where they've tried to break the shell open and chew marks around one end of the egg.
