I have a question, all the babies are now fully feathered and looking really good BUT they all have a bald spot, they haven't been plucked it's just a bald spot. My question is does this mean the birds have Lutino gene or is just something that will grow out over time.

Hi John normally the top of the head is the last to feather up and only some visual Lutinos carry the bald spots this isn't evident in splits more likely slight dose of feather plucking undetected cheers Frank

I always worry about my birds in mid summer where the heat can reach 43 C (that's over 100 degrees F). My aviary faces north which means they get the full sun in the middle of the day. So far I haven't lost one bird from the heat but they appreciate a light hosing several times during the day.

Hi John. I just want to say that your pair of whitefaced are really beautiful. I wish you luck in raising the babies. They look good and fat, which means they're being fed well. I'm raising my second lot (6 in this clutch). They're 4-5 weeks old now. BTW, I love this site. It is really informative.
