Hi all, I have a question about Cockatiel genetics. I have two normal coloured grey adults, with a few white and yellow dots on the backs of their heads. This i know means they are splits. They have hatched 6 young. Two i am hand rearing. Two are colouring up normal, but white faced. One is colouring up Cinnamon, but white faced. Two are colouring up norma. 1 is colouring up pied. What on earth are the genetice of the parents???

Thanks for that. What marks the difference between a normal pied and a pearl pied? Also, obviously the cinnamon mutation is a sex linked one if all the cinnamons i get will be hens. Correct?

You are correct about the cinnamon being sex-linked. With regards to pearl pieds compared to normal pieds...on the pearl pieds there is pearling on the grey areas whereas on a normal pied the grey areas are plain grey. Here is a pic of a pearl pied....not a great pic but you can see the pearls in the grey area. Jo-Anne
