My name is Punky, I'm the first tiel that Deb took home, I have noticed that my feathers are getting a bit flat and dull looking of late, I'm a bit of a bugger because I will only pick out the canary and millet from my seed mix and I don't even eat sunflowers....yuk, I get a vegi cup every second day and the off days Deb gives me a treat cup, I do love my vegies tho, is there any thing that she can give me that will give some more luster to my feathers as I want to look kewl for the young lady in the cage next to me Punky PS I will be ten next year

Good work Anna, I see you have been feeding your birds well.So you do listen to me lol...Also Deb if you get a very good budgie seed you will find that punky will also eat a lot more seeds. You should find the brown flat oval seed in this. That is your Linseed.I freeze my LSA it is very cheap and you will find there is a lot there.

Hi Anna and Natalie.... thanx for your wealth of knowledge, I had a feeling that he needed some of the good oil but thought I would post the problem first to see what you guys would come up with for me. LSA is on the list for tomorrow. Punky has a mix of budgie and canary mix, he still picks out his fav seeds and if I leave the dishes to make him eat others he would rather go without, he is getting funny in his old ways, but I love him. Does punky bath, no way, he hates water, when the days are warm I put a mister on him and he really does hate it. Yes Punky is going thru his moult Frank, but even his new feathers lack luster, I think the good oil is the go, it can only be all good for him, might even share a bit around with the other kids

Thanks for all the info Natalie, I actually printed out your post so that myself and hubby could have a real good read.....and I must say it was very interesting indeed. Mike and I are Vegetarians and we eat lots of the good stuff like vegies, fruits, nuts and grains, soya products etc......had to have a bit of a laugh as Mike has been taking cold pressed flax seed oil for months now as he works outside in the elements and he suffers from dry skin, and the flax has been excellant. Thanx again......oh and Punky says thanx as well. PS: we had lots of the Puslane, but we got rid of it as it was a weed to us back then......if I only new..oh well.

Hi Bill, Vetafarm have a Nutritional Omega 3-6 supplementthat you add to soaked or dry seed but a fish oil such as Cod Liver Oil will do exactly the same thing and is a lot cheaper just add 5 Drops to every 100 mg of seed and double that for moulting birds once per week is ample cheers Frank ;D
