I have 2 males that over-preen their partners. One is worse than the other, leaving his lady bald all year round, the other only does it while nesting. Does anyone have a 'cure'?

Man if someone came up with a definate cure you would be a millionaire, unfortunately most of these bad traits are developed in the nest as chicks, as most go on to become feather pluckers themselves .Sometimes dietary intake is inadequate with a lack of protein or calcium or iodine or a combination of all three a recipe for plucking. Because feather follics are 100% protein breeding birds pluck young and their mates to retain levels required. By adding salt rocks and calcium/iodine bells and a dose of calcivite in the water can assist. ;)Also the onset of frustration or boredom can be a factor, thats why i always suggest to buyers to purchase young birds that hopefully wont carry bad traits as most mature birds sold are sold for a reason! cheers Frank
