Ok this is only a minor problem I know, but Tilly our cocketeil is a brilliant talker and is very clear in his speech for a cocketiel, he says heaps Like Caitlyn Caitlyn I'm still waiting , Ray where are you, Are you listening to me and weoo weoo weooo Firetruck, plus heaps more. Well we have new neighbours and they do a bit of yelling and swearing at their dog and now Tilly is saying F........ing smack ya. He's said it 4 or five times today as I think it is a new set of words and a bit of a novelty for him and he has been practising it for a week or so but it's only become clear today. I'd like to stop it, we are moveing in a few weeks so I'm hopeing he will stop if he doesn't hear it any more, but is there a way to stop it now?

Hi Kim, You are writing some funny posts today ;D. ;D First squirting lorries and now this ;D Birds are a bit like naughty kid's, if they get a reaction to something they say, they will keep saying it. I wouldn't be too concerned if you are moving from there and he won't hear the naughty phase from the neighbours again he will probably just stop it himself. The biggest thing is not to react to it, ignore him when he does it and he will most likely drop the phrase from his vocabulary. another thing to try is to move him to a room where he can't hear things from that side of the house. I must warn you that some birds, once they have learned a phrase, never forget it, and usually repeat it at the most inappropriate moments ;D Cheers Tony

Hi Kim, tiels are very smart birds so I hope that he does forget that phrase, but once the have learnt something new, they don't seem to forget. I know that you didn't teach it but I often wonder why some people think it is so funny a bird swearing. Personally myself, I don't see the humor in it. That would be like teaching your 2 year old child to swear & that is definately not funny. I hope for your sake that his time away from the situation will erase his memory but, they are very smart birds. Good luck. Cheers Anna
