Should the baby red-rump be eating grit?

It wouldnt hurt to put some oyster shell grit in the bottem of her cage and she will peck around in it, just make sure it is oyster shell grit and not ordinary shell grit.

Ok thanks. Bill the cockatiel doesn't have any so it didn't dawn on me till today that the baby might need some. Is oyster shell grit harder to get than ordinary shell grit?

No not really but there are some other types of shell, grit on the market that is not suitable they are actually small shells and white in colour don't give her any of that.
