Hi everyone instand of getting another female cockatiel i'm planing on just getting a male and breed him with angel. But the question i have is will this change angels behaviour with me. What mutation will be best to breed with her i want the babies to have bright colors.

Hi SunConure Angel will change her behaviour and her attitude towards you if she breeds but will return to normal after brooding is complete ::)The best partner for her to suit your requirements would be a Lutino Cock and if you are in the market for one try and find one with none or very little bald spot on the the top of their head ;D cheers

Thanks frank i will start searching for a lutino cock.I want a hand reared cock since it will be housed with angel so i can still get angel out without worry about a tiel going mad cause my hands in the cage.

Hey SunConure your thinking is great the only problem being the percentages of 2 handreared tiels breeding and breeding properly is low but not uncommon so you might have to prepare yourself for assistance or other related problems ::)one good factor though is that there are many of us here who can help you along the way dont try and breed with Angel until she is mature usually 12mths old good luck ;D Frank

so does this mean i should wait to get the male or will they be fine in the cage together with no nest box. i got more questions 1 what would pastel silver split to lutino produce? 2 what would cinnamon split lutino pied produce? 3 what would cinnamon split lutino produce? 4.what would normal grey pied produce?

Boy you really want know a lot ok if you put them together now they will bond but you also run the risk of her starting to lay eggs depending on her age with or without a nest box she could possibly change towards you also with a mate introduced. To answer all your breeding outcomes will take a bit of doing so I will quickly tell you that your best options are Lutino cock then followed by 2nd choice a Cinnamon cock and pieds, silvers and normal greys would not be worth the results cheers ;D

Hi Sunconue, If you are going to get a mate for angel, just remember to house them seperately to start with even if the new guy is h/reared. Put him in another cage next to Angel so that they can get use to each other first. Males can be very domineering over new females & it could scare her. As frank has indicated some h/reared tiels do not make good parents, especially if they are too young when they first start to breed, they just seem to be too inexperienced & don't know what to do. Also another problem could be that Angel will not be as friendly towards you as she will put her effots into wooing her new man, so there are a few things to watch out for. I wish you the best of luck. Cheers Anna
