hi,
i am a beginer breeder (if that makes any sense) and i was wandering if shredded newspaper or baught nesting material is best for inside the nestbox and is it the male or female that makes the nest or do they not make a nest
my female is laying eggs but is only sitting on them and not making a nest, should she make a nest

you could put s bit of saw dust in for them or wood shavings or go to the pet shop and they will sell you some nest materieal

Hey Ziki breeding Cockatiels is the next big step for you and i dont want to sound rude but i think its better you learn about them first before you jump into breeding as there is lots to learn, first try and get yourself a good book which one i recommend is called A Guide to Cockatiels and Their Mutations and read up as much as possible before you jump in head first good luck Frank

I use the nesting mix bought from the pet shop. With my tiels, I have found that both male & female check the box out before the female lays her eggs. Then they will both take turns to sit on them, and will both feed the young when they hatch. Its better than with budgies, the poor female does the lot.
