Well it snowed here in Hobart last night and this morning, almost down to sea level! Took all our pics then went out to feed the birds. One of the cockatiels isn't very healthy, all fluffed up, tired and very green runny sticky poo, but eating ok. Roads are blocked but should hopefully clear for our 4.30 appointment with the vet. We've got the cockatiel upstairs away from the other birds and keeping him warm until we can get him to the vet this afternoon. Any idea's what could have caused this, would the cold night have brought this on so quickly? The other 2 cockatiels in the same aviary are fine, but I will be keeping a close eye on them

Hi Samantha, sound like you didn't have a very good morning. I would say that your tiel has definitely got an infection of some sort. Birds are very good at disguising when they are sick & it is not till they get really really sick that the start behaving like you have described. I don't think the cold would have helped as well but it would be hard to say if the cold brought it on. Could be that the poor little mite might have had an infection for a bit & then well the cold on top of that just got too much for it. Hope all goes well at the vet. Cheers Anna
