My best breeding pair of cockatiels (cinnamon p.p cock & pp hen) have six new babies again. I checked in their box yesterday, and the last one had just hatched. I also put two of their eggs under another pair. The cock of this pair hasn't bred successfully, but the hen has. She misses having babies, so I surregated a couple of the other pairs eggs to them. They're good 'parents' to them, and feed them well. Only one of these eggs has hatched, so I'm keeping the infertile eggs in with itto keep it warm, till it gets a bit bigger. The surviving baby looks good, and very well fed.
Would it be possible to take another baby, maybe the youngest, from the other five, who are with their parents, and put it in with this single one? The babies are from the same parents. I thought it might help the real parents if I moved another one or two into the surragate's box, for them to feed as well. So then, they'd have three each.

Hi Beachbird, as long as the baby you want to put in with the surrogate parents is not too far advanced than the one in the box it shouldn't be a problem as I have successful shifted baby's around when one pair of my tiels had 8 babies. If you do put it in, just keep an eye on it that the surrogate parents are feeding it, but tiels are pretty good at accepting someones else's baby. Don't leave the infertile eggs too long in the box, because if the surrogate parents are sitting tight you could end up with splayed legs in the baby & you really don't want this to happen. Hope this helps. Cheers Anna
