Hi, as most of you know i got a new tiel on the weekend.. a w/faced cinni pearl pied.. tonight he is really really chirpy and keeps try to flap/fly up in mid air and flap around all over the place... i don't know what he wants.. we haven't had this kind of behaviour before with our 2 last girls..so we are 100%sure this one is a boy... he tries to get on our heads, which we don't allow..now hubby is sitting on the ground with him letting him have a flap around.. i just don't understand.. is this normal behaviour?? he is sooo cute thanks Jo

is he just testing out his wings? what should we do to help.. he has been clipped quite strongly..one wing has been done but most of the flight feathers on it (not just 5 or 6 like when we had monts)..which we are not happy about because he is a bit of an unbalanced clutz. obviously we have to wait for that to grow out now..

he has been clipped for 3 weeks..coz we first saw him 3 weeks ago...so i'm not sure..it's funny though...but we are worried he'll hurt himself.. we are so disappointed with the clipping..he is way too unbalanced! hehe that behaviour is definately boyish isn't it..yay

Aussie does that too - I think they are just testing their wings and stretching them so they don't lose their strength in them or something. Aussie does what I call "birdy calesthenics" (sp)??
First stretches one wing with the opposite leg, then stretches back both wings and then the other wing with the other opposite leg. ;D
He seems to flap a bit when we get him out of the cage at night and tries to have a bit of a fly around. I wouldn't worry about it, he will probably grow out of it or just do it for a bit and then be satisfied with sitting with you or walking all over you.
Sounds like a boy with his characteristics though.....
