Some time ago I got what were supposed to be three Parino Lovebird hens from a mate of mine, I wasn't really concerned if they were hens or not I just wanted some to build up my breeding stock. Well as it turns out two pf them are a pair and have mated giving a clutch of 5 eggs four of which have hatched and it looks like they may even hatch the 5 eggs as number 4 hatched last night. The exciting part of this is ALL the babies have yellow down I can't see the eye colour as yet I don't want to disturb the hen too much but as both the parents will carry the Ino gene i'm hopeing for Lutino babies.

I was in the aviary again this morning and the other Parino hen that has mated with a blue mask has also laid 4 eggs. There was one new baby there this morning from the looks of it it had hatched last night, no colour yet but I should think that they will be blue split to Parino, I'm hopeful that more eggs will hatch over the next couple of days.

Further update on the babies, the Parino pair babies are going really well and the little Lutino is filling out to be a nice looking bird, I think there is something special about Lutino lovebirds. The blue /Lutino pair have 4 babies and three of them are going to be Blue just liike dad but No 4 is showing up some interesting colour, It appears to have a blue body and black head but the wing tips and tail tips are yellow it's no where near feathered yet but it will be interesting to watch it develop.

Hi John , The lutino is a beaut looking bird as well as the parinos, but the pale green is the really interesting member of that clutch, it's a lot lighter than the normal green, almost a jade colour, please keep us updated with more pics as they grow ;D ;D Cheers Tony

The wing feathers are really too light at the moment to be called jade, your right John, it will be facinating to see what colour it ultimately shows, you may not see its true colour untill maturity ;D
