She has only laid two eggs at the moment Gordon I'm expecting at least five in this clutch, at the moment she is doing well and laying every second day, here's hoping she keeps laying. This will be her first clutch and the other pair I have are showing great interest in the other nest box.

There is nothing more exciting than the first clutch, hope it goes well. Gee I've just read that back there and you would think I was talking about childbirth. You can see where my priorities lie Gordon.

Monday morning and there are three eggs, it looks like the second pair have gone down now so I'm expecting eggs there in the very near future. The pair with the eggs are still mating and they were at it this morning then straight back into the nest to incubate the eggs they have, I have bred Love birds before, both mask and Fischer, and they never did this, at least i never saw them, however as long as i get babies I don't care what they do ;D.

Hi John, Each egg is fertilized separately so I would worry if they were not mating! Hopefully, they will produce a nice clutch of youngsters for you. Linda L.

There are four eggs now Linda and she is sitting nice and tight on them in fact they are both sitting on them, they are not in the slightest bit bothered that we have a look at them. The first egg was laid on the 24th and then she laid one every second day, as is normal I believe, so all is well at the moment.

Hi John, The hen's brood patch has finally reached incubating temperature so it's good that she is sitting tightly on the clutch. They will continue to mate, even though she is sitting. Dad may be sitting with her, but only the hen is incubating the eggs. In Cockatiels, both parents share the duty but this is not true with lovebirds.

Thanks for the information Linda I'm looking forward to when the babies hatch, due coincidently on my wedding anniversary LOL ;D. These will be my first Peach Face although i have Fischer and Mask Love Birds before the Peach face is certainly different in their habits, I have the opportunity to purchase a Lutino bird but i am unsure of it's sex and would only get it if it were a male bird.

Hi John, I don't know about where you are, but here in the US, finding male inos is very difficult because most breeders are not breeding them properly! Male inos are usually more expensive because of this! I think this is one time that I would not purchase the bird without having it DNA sexed!

That's the very reason I won't be getting it Linda, I'm getting pretty good at picking the difference between the sexes now but with something as important as this i am not going to trust my judgment, although it is a nice bird ;D

I think I have three hens and one cock and boy is he going for it ROFLOL. My Slate Pallid hen has four eggs and she is sitting tight on them, her mate the sea green male has decided he will try the other hen and see if he can get some eggs out of her too. What I thought was an Olive male seems to be quite happy with this situation and i am thinking that it is a hen too. So what I have at the moment is a sea green pied male that has mated with a Slate pied hen and an Olive Pied hen with what was supposed to be a an Olive male .....confused yet.....I am going to get the Olive bird checked out and in the mean time ill sit back and wait for the babies ;D...... talk about Peyton Place of the bird world........ hi how things going? how are the eggs going have they hatched yet if not very soon i suppose. how are every ones birds doing in general. im going to give my birds back their nest boxes in a couple of weeks. they have been having a break for about 5 or 6 weeks now was going to leave them till june but going to give them an early start. and it will make it easier to sort out the pairs of course. have had a number of people chasing some but haven't been able to pair them up as they are colony breed and i only have a few that i can tell from sight. anyway hope everyones birds are doing well:) Debbie

The Cockatiels are still sitting tight and at the moment things are looking promising, they are still taking turns in the box I really don't know when the tiels are due to hatch so i have to take pot luck but i check every day and as i said they are still sitting tight ;D.
I am starting to get a bit worried about the peach face as they are due to hatch any day, it has been 24 days today however i know from past experience they can hatch any time soon and as long as the parents stay with the eggs I am still hopeful, this is their first clutch so I may not get any babies but i am still hoping.
