I don't like that clip at all. It makes them look odd. Venice is clipped, but only his primaries it looks a lot more natural and nicer than how you vet has done you cuties.

Yeah that's not the greatest clip I've seen - looks awkward and I can see that bothering them when they try to fly, and possibly making the feathers easier to be bumped and damaged. I clip mine like Courtz has Beetle clipped - both wings, and I generally just take three initially from each side and then give them a test flight, and then continue to take one from each side until they're able to glide down but not gain height, if that makes sense.
Honestly I wouldn't take them back to that vet for a wing clip again. The edges look ragged which can annoy them, and it seems way overdone to me.

Luckily his wings will grow back. Then you can get them clipped properly. If I lived down there I would do it for you. Do some research and see if you can find someone to do it.....maybe another vet or a birdie friend. I was clipping my birds wings at the age of 13. I read some books ......... I probably did some shockers too, but I think I have improved over the years. Lest I hope so ;D

Looks good - as long as she flies to the ground and not falls then it is just right I assume the lovebird clip done by the vet was not done by an avian vet. If it was an avian vet he/she needs to talk to Bob Doneley at Toowoomba about the correct way to clip a bird's wings. cheers, Mike

Oh poor little ones Luckily the feathers will grow back over time but it doesn't help for now. I have never seen a bird clipped like that before though Sorry you and your babies have had a bad experience. Tasha

yes I am finding that they try to flyand fall flat to the ground,The vet said he tested them and they both glide gently to the ground...well that hasn't happened to me yet...its usually splat.Keiko is scared to attempt it now and climbs everywhere..except when he wants me then he chirps till I go into him then he lunges at me and grabs on to my shirt then climbs up to my shoulder...he does seem more clingy now than he was before.Mardi seems to do the lunge thing too but is scared of me so doesn't go near me yet.

wow i have Never seen a clip like that before- it looks untidy and uncomfortable! i bet you cant wait until theyre wings grow back out again! you could probably do a better job yourself- courtneys clip looks good, peanuts clip is very similar but he hasnt had so many feathers cut back since i like him to fly a bit- i am going to let him grow out again though

Yeah, they've just had their escape method taken from them completely if they're just falling which will by why they are scared and in Keiko's case clingy. Until they get used to and remember that they can't fly it might be an idea to only have them out over soft surfaces, so they don't have a hard landing if they do try to go somewhere.
I also don't think that it was an avian vet you saw, and if it was they obviously haven't been keeping up to date with a rather simple procedure. =/
On the plus side, you're being a good birdy Dad by not checking what the go is with that clip, and I'm sure that next time you'll either do it yourself in a way you feel comfortable with or find someone to do it for you.

Its a pretty soft landing so I think it's ok. She doesnt fall like a brick so thats ok lol.
