well ok just him not eating any fruit or veg what so ever. he himself is great and not driving me nuts lol. I have no idea why. i have tried.... apple (red and green) watermellon, strawberries, carrot, corn on the cob, banana. he gives it one little try and walks away all he will eat is his dry food.
Is this enough or is there something else i can try? he get bottle brush most days aswell.

Hi Nova, I've never had much success with my lorrikeets eating strawberries, carrot or banana. I think maybe the texture isn't right or something. They also play with the cob corn a lot more then eat it.
What I have found succesful is: Apple (red mainly) Pear - will walk over glass to get to pear !! Rock-melon/ honey dew melon (not so much water melon.........tends to go off up here) Grapes ....when they're cheap
They'll also eat some dried fruit if it's socked a bit first. More success with sultanas and raisins. Dried pineapple is a bit of a treat for them.
I've also found that they seem to get bored with the presentation. If they go off something, I'll change the way I give it.............if I've been cutting it up, I'll give it whole or peeled and they seem to get their appetite back !!! I'll also just throw in some greens from time to time. Don't know how much they eat but they just love playing with a celery stalk.
Silly but lovable aren't they

I feed my Red Collared Lorikeets apple, pears, rock melon, kiwi fruit, corn on the cob (sometimes i don't give it to them on the cob) silverbeet, endives and whatever else i can find. I don't feed my birds grapes as they are mainly filled with water

i had a 3 month old lorikeet and she was fine she still doesn't eat as much fruit as my other lorikeets but she is eating enough.
You could try putting your lorikeet in a cage with another lorikeet and the other lorikeet will go and eat and your baby should go and check it out and eventually your baby will be eating fruit.

Hi Nova, when mine were babies they would just lick the apple until they were alot older, so I boiled, blended and mix it in with there wet mix, but they would eat corn and peas, I'd soak some frozen corn and pea mix in boiling water until defrosted only takes a couple of minutes, they ate the peas first.. I also added a couple of teaspoons of baby food (nothing with salt or onion) and apple juice to there wet mix, there favorite was blue berry and muslie..

Mine love the fresh corn on the cob. Felix eats all the corn then rolls on his back and holds it with his feet and talks to it in human language..There a classic to watch playing

Lorikeets are with out a doubt the clowns of the birds world and as you say they will turn anything into a game. I have an umbrella tree in the house next door to me and the wild lorries get in there and play in the branches especially when the tree has flowers on it, The flower heads seem to make them drunk and boy do they perform.
