Yes Bill if it lays an egg it's a hen, I'm not being funny here you just can't sex them visually mate, looks like a DNA test.

What's worse is when you think you've got a bonded, laying pair and end up with 4 eggs.............they only lay 2/ clutch so this means you have 2 females I've also got a small purple-crowned lorikeet that's trying to do the manly thing through the doubled wire between his cage and the lorikeets..........well I suspects it's a male by it's reaction to teh 2 ladies next door, either that or it's got a really bad complex ;D Cheers Viraba

lmao i saw the first part of of johns answer and thought whoohoo john knows the seceret then i saw the last bit about laying eggs and was disapointed lol i honestly thought for a moment there was a way of sexing them ;D
