Thought it might be! Ha Ha. Shane thinks it's hilarious. The little sod has really bonded with him then..... no wonder it doesn't like me

I've noticed some of my other male birds doing the bobbing up and down. Now I know what it is.

I've never had experience with lorikeets so that's why I'm asking. You can't really compare their behaviour to any other birds either. Difficult and complex little birds. Shane just wanted to know because he didn't want to encourage bad behaviour. Shane sits there with Boofie on his shoulder and bobs his hand up and down and Boofie does it back We are trying to teach Boofie to talk, we are going to visit family soon so we want Him/her to say "Shutup stupid" . HA

My hen does it also and I like others don't think it's a mating thing just having fun they are truly the clown of the bird world. What you will find is if it is a hen she will present her tail to Shane with her tail in the air in the mating position looking to have her backside scratched. I would say from what you are describing that the bird has bonded with Shane and it considers him it's partner.

The best way to get them to talk is to be repetitive. I find it is best to cover him up at night and just keep saying it over and over. If he is covered up he can only listen to you and not have any distractions. Bev

hehe i always thought it was some sorta love thing...until my bird laid an egg and i began to worry she was gay...lol...but glad to see it might just be the cheeky lorikeet in her..she doesnt like hubby only me..but why does she suddenly want to bite me hard as for talking...seh never shuts up...she calls the dogs by name, calls our cats, and tells hubby his a ****ing P****...he taught her those bad words....
