Hi Everyone...Im so glad to have found this site. We have just become owners of Baby Rainbow Lorrikeet I have been reading the many posts here trying to find out just what to feed the little guy. I have seen some recipes for the wet and dry mixes. I bought some Harmony Wild Bird Dry Food. Is this Ok to feed him? The instructions are for feeding in the back yard to attract wild birds. I see people mention giving fruit and vegies.....What sort and how much?? Is any fruit or vege a no-go?? I will be grateful for any help as I just dont know where to start..
Many thanks.... Neon

Ok i suggest using either Sheps or Wombaroo Passwell wet and dry mixes, with my lorikeets i have a container of diced cut fruit in the (apple, pear, brocolli and corn with seasonal extras) each lorikeet gets about 1/4 cup of this with wet mix poured over the top, Wet mix can be made up in lots and kept in the fridge or Frozen into cubes in the fridge it normally lasts for about a week.
Also my lorikeets enjoy native flowers. Feed your lorikeet all fruits and veggies except avocado which kills birds.

I have used harmony and my guys like it. I also sometimes use fresh juice to make my wet mix.
Most native flowers are great, just make sure that if they're from your own garden that they aren't sprayed with any chemicals and if you get them from anywhere else make sure you don't pick any that are near the road as they will have toxins from vehicles on them. You can also give them hibiscus, roses and camelias.

My Lorikeet gets a couple of grevillia flowers every morning along with her fresh wet and dry mix, I use Harmony and find it acceptable to the bird, she also gets fresh fruit, orange, apple and corn every day.
John
PS Bottle Brush is also a good flower for them.
