Just asking this for a freind, she has a 1 year old ringneck, and he has always been the only bird in the house, she just got a new little Alexandrine girl, and although she has her own cage etc, Izzy the ringie has decided he won't go in his cage, doesn't want to eat and is cracking the loudest tantrums I've ever seen, he's screaching at everyone who even talks to him, sitting fluffed up and doing the white eye thing everytime the alex even makes a noise (she put the Alex in another room so he can't see her, but he does'nt think it's far enough away) It's been 3 days now and she doesn't know what to do. Any sugestions?

well for starters I would not let him get any where near the alex...The poor guy this is his home...how dere you bring some one new in my home he is saying..lol..Well she will have to show that she still loves him very much..lots more treats...He has to get used to the new one..so moving the alex away will not help...getting them together will be fun...Try putting the cages near each other so that they cannot touch..always make shore that the attention is given to the ring next first..you have to play it by ear....it is hard when this happens...give him time..and if a girl he mite just learn to love her Natalie

Sounds like he is a bit upset at an intruder in his domain, Give him time to re adjust and he will get over it especially if the new bird is a female ;D.
