Hiya guys 'n gals,
Quick question for you....... i have a breeding pair of lutino ringnecks...they have black eyes, does this mean they are split greens? and what would i expect when they breed? red or black eyes? As posted in my intro i am new to all this and they have 'meant' to of breed twice since pairing up together, am guessing with that they are around 3-4 yrs old? greens and/or lutinos? not totally sure plus not knowing there history and talked about before in my intro i am HOPING like hell they arent related...ive almosted been tossing up with the idea of getting rid of the female and getting another to make sure but they seem to have formed quite a strong bond with eachother that i dont know know how either would react to being seperated..... anyhow look forward to reading your ideas ;D

Hi Rach it is always difficult to seperate bonded pairs,If i were you I would replace one of them as my hunch is they are related ,most pet shops like to sell pigeon pairs but 9 times out of 10 they are closely related. Lutino ringnecks are all yellow and even though the eyes look dark they are actually red as with the Ino factor it reduces all Melanin leaving white or yellow tones eyes included. A photo would be handy ;D

Heya Frank, Yeah i did buy them from a pet shop, $280 i paid for the pair, they couldnt really give me any information as someone had just brought them in, all they knew was they have breed twice together already. there is a picture of them in the intro section, its the only one i have of them as they dont let ya within a feet of them before going totally nuts lol the pic isnt that clear as its just been taken on my pxt mobile phone lol but hope it gives you some insight to what they look like cheers, Rach

Ok Rach yep Lutino sorry it's hard to remember all the posts sometimes. Who knows if they have bred before remember a Petshop will tell you whatever just to get a sale unfortunately! and who knows if the breeder was honest with the Petshop see how you go as depending on where you live it might not be season otherwise you might have intro new partner that you get from a reputable breeder who can confirm the genetics sex and age! ;D Frank

From what I've been led to understand you may have missed the breeding season by a couple of months, also I had this happen to one of my pairs the first year, I knew they had bred before but the first season I got them they didn't breed, I gave them to my dad and got myself a different pair, but they settled in at dads and produced a double clutch of 5 then 4 chicks, boy was I dissapointed I didn't wait, I guess they just needed a season to settle as they had been shifted a couple of times.
