Hi, I have a young hand reared Lutino ringneck and very new to the game. We have not had its sex checked yet. But someone mentioned to me that the females can not learn to talk. Is this true? As we have taught our baby whistles and she learnt her first whistle within a week.
Any tips/advice would be great as I am new to the game.
Thanks!TEXT

Hi Neffie,
Repetition is the clue to teaching any bird to talk. If your little one is tame and spends a lot of time out of his cage with you talk to him/her paying attention to saying what you want it to say and repeat it over and over, even when you bird is in the cage talk to it. Try talking to your bird while it is sitting on your hand, say a frase or word you want it to learn then offer the bird a special treat the bird will soon associate the word with the treat and pick it up.

Hi Neffie, I have 2 female ringies & I can assure you that they can talk & whistle. Me personally have found it just takes them a bit longer. Mine are coming up for 6 months now & that is how long it took my first ringie to start to talk. They mumble at first then become clearer Don't confuse them with too many words at first. Repetition is the key word & patience like John said. I will warn you once they learn to talk they never shut up lol, & you need to be careful what you say around the bird as it will pick it up very quickly. (No swearing around it) Hope this helps, Anna

Thanks Guys.
Thats wonderful advice. Yeah like I said. We taught her a whistle within a week, so we shall try with words now. She is one smart little character though!
Thanks again!
