Just wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a standard blue ring neck or is he split to something? I bought this and was told he was a blue. I don't know much about ringneck colours but it looks different to my other blue ringnecks Hoping someone can reply soon....

Ringnecks are not visually split so if it was split for something, it would not affect the colour of the bird.
That is a normal Blue

Hello honeyandthebee, Jeremy is right about it being normal blue, and a very nice one too. I have changed your post so the picture shows up in your post.

Must admit I am confused here. Here is a pic which I hope I am allowed to post of a normal blue which look like the 4 blues I have myself & mine all look like the pic but the one posted by honeyandthebees looks quite a bit different & appears to have a green wash through the wings. Are their different variations of Blues in ringnecks . One confused Anna

The lighting can play a big factor when taking photos of birds. Honeyandthebees 'Blue' Ringneck may very well be a poorly marked Pastelblue but i think it is just the lighting playing tricks on us. I still think it is a normal Blue

. Yeah I know that a split can not be seen visually but i thought it might of been something odd, as he doesn't look like any of my other blues.. He's a very pretty boy Thanks Guys

He looks like my ringneck that was split to lutino, in comparison to my normal blue cock, the blue split to lutino had a more irredescent lighter blue head that looks like the first photo you posted. I guess you'll have to wait till it breeds to know for sure.

I would be more inclined to think that there is a cinnamon wash thru its wings! Frank

are the cock birds flight feathers dark in colour or a washed out colour, in my opinion there is a slight difference in the body colour from a normal blue and a fallow blue. so i think you have a fallow blue.. could be wrong though cheers

It is so hard to tell from a photo as the blues really take on an aqua colour. I guess its the flash reflecting of the structure of the feathers or something. Here is a picture of my blue cock. He looks gorgeous in the photo (in my opinion) but I'm afraid he is only blue in real life
