Just curious - am tossing around a few different varieties of birds as another family member (seeing as I have this big travel cage that can now fit 2 birds in it) ;D
What are Alex's like as pets? Do they like to be patted (I suspect from what I have read they are like my ekkie), are they trained easily, can they talk well. I am probably asking stupid questions, but would like to make an informed decision from people who might already have them as pets.

my eldest son owns one and he/she seems nice, but they do not spend a lot of physical time with the bird. The bird is allowed of his cage almost daily and he is starting to talk. They are always impressed when they come over and see Skye, my son loves to interact with her, but I do spend time with my girl daily so she is socialised (she also comes out with us). the next bird I get will be treated the same.

If you are interested in these guys..Dont wait to long. For you will miss out..
They are more like a dog I find..They will be your mate go anywhere with you.. They do talk up a storm. I have also heard that a lady in QLD has a moving bird show with Alexndrines..But I have never seen her..

Just thought you might like to know I pick up my little "man" tomorrow from Bundaberg about 2 hours south of where I live. His name will be Kumar (indian for boy/son) and he comes with a dna certificate. He is about 9 weeks old. I hope my ekkie female "likes" him at least. They will have separate cages.

Here he is i4.photobucket.com/albums/y125/Vankarhi/Kumaronwayhome.jpgSomeone who passed me in the street today in Bundaberg and saw Kumar asked did i get him from "such and such" and I said well his name is "such" and he lives "..................rd". The guy said you will have no problems with that bird then. Nice to know the people I have bought birds from have good reputations. The guy I got Kumar from also knew Skyes breeder and said she must be a quality bird then. So that made me feel good all round today.
