Hi To All. Do you remember my post about the blue ringneck that I have that I thought was something else? I posted in the Ringneck section and heading was - what colour Ringneck is this? Well I actually bought him and also a green split blue hen as a pair.(well that's what the seller told me they were).... Anyway, they had 5 eggs and I never actually seen them in action so I thought that they were not fertile. Anyway last week 4 hatched and all have black eyes and 3 days ago the 5th one hatched and has red eyes..So what would you think the parents are ? ? They are suppose to be HEN - Green split blue COCK - Blue Sad news is, you know how when they have 5 babies the smallest is always behind and when the smallest start slacking off and the mother knows that it is weaker, she tends to leave it and let it die. Well I had to take the little one out of the nest to feed, because mum wasn't feeding it.Like they say "Only the strong survive". So you can imagine how busy I am. I'd love to here what you guys think the parents may be and what the babies will be also.Exspecially the red eyed cutie..

Sounds like it is a Lutino. That means the father is Blue/Lutino and the baby will be a hen I have a pair who had 5 babies this year, it was their first time breeding and they fed all the babies fine. I am handraising 11 Ringnecks at the moment and they are all at the age where they start climbing everywhere

I thought it may be a Lutino. I am hoping the other 4 are blue? What's my chance of them being blue? Or will they turn out to be green?

Hi Jeremy and Honeyandthebee your theory sounds correct to me but there is one more outcome to the results that you have displayed and that is (because of the red eye obviously dad is carrying the ino gene) a Blue-Lutino hen which is better known as an Albino which would also be a hen! your percentages of Blue will be 50% in both sexes cheers Frank
