If a pastel bird has 2 turquoise genes, and a pastel blue has only 1 turquoise and 1 blue gene what is the visual difference? do they both look like pastels? also what will a blue cock amnd a pastel grey hen throw?

does any one have an idea about this? I'm trying hard to find out as I"m getting a pastel grey hen on wednesday to put with my cinnamon/blue cockbird or blue cock, I was told that one of the possible combinations include pastal grey(turquoise grey) and pastal blue(turquoise blue) chicks, but I've since been told this isn't right as the cock needs to carry the pastal(turquoise) gene also, I'm also informed that a turqoise has 2 turquoise genes but a turquoise blue (pastal blue) has only one, whish leads to my question, is turquoise blue visually simular to straight turquoise or is it a blue bird kind of split or masking turquoise?

A Pastel is predominantly Green whereas a Pastel Blue is Blue with a Green wash. I have only seen one picture of a straight Pastel and it is Green but has Blue flight feathers.
The Pastel gene is dominant, the Blue gene is recessive and the Grey gene is both dominant and recessive.
If you put a Blue Cock with a Pastel Grey Hen you should get: Blue Grey Pastel Blue Pastel Grey

Thanks for that, thats the results I had worked out but I was told the cock had to have the pastel gene also, but I'm glad you answered and confirmed my calculations as I almost didn't buy the hen. Thankfully I get her tomorrow so I'm pretty excited.

Ok here a different question, my grey cockbird Wilber is nearly finished moulting, but he has changed colour in places he is now grey with large chocolate coloured patches on his wings and flecks of the same chocolate colour on his back andI'm beginning to see his head changing to a mix of grey and pale chockolate, his sister Izzy is still a plain grey so it's only Wil thats developed this wierd colouration, he's happy and healthy, so is this colour from some sort of genetic throwback, or (a bit scary) is it some sort of problem he is developeing?

I don't have any photos at the moment as my camera is broken but I'm going to Rocky in 3 weeks and taking Wilber to show Dad, he has a digital camera so I'll take some then and post them.
