HI i have 3 breeding and 1 bonded pair of Alexandrines. I haven't heard much about Alexandrines fighting, my birds are all housed together and all get on together even at breeding time. I breed them all together in one large avairy with 4 nesting boxes. You will find they will start to feed each other soon and all will be well.

Hi Petiel, thanks for your info. I am just getting a bit anxious. I have waited a long time and just hope everything goes ok. I think the reason that they both fight over the food is because they are both very dominant. Neither of them will back down from a fight. The male that I had originally was very comfortable since the last hen passed away with egg binding. Then one day after I had plit the aviary into 2 sections he flew out while I was putting in his food. He flew over to my neighbours house where he landed and was bitten in the beak by the neighbours dog. I took him to the vet and had him quarantiened for a while until after I had put the female in. His beak has healed a lot but is still not 100 %, thats why I was worried about him getting into fights.

I would be guessing that maybe they just have not bonded yet. 1 month is not a long time and I think their breeding season starts about August September. Like petiel said hers are bonded and do not fight. Give them time and they should settle down and start to "like" each other. You will see them being "friendly" to each other. Good luck.
