Hi everyone
We picked up "Ricky" today. He is a 10 week old green cheeked conure. He's beautiful BUT I need some guidance here. I have heard about Conure Bleeding Syndrome. Ricky has red coloured feathers around his nose - should I be worried or is this normal. He had them about a week ago when we visited the breeder and he still has them today. Does the green cheeked conure have reddy coloured feathers around the nostrils? Could someone please advise what I should do to find out for sure. I pointed it out to the breeder last week, just commented on the colour, and she said it was probably from something he ate.
Help please!! I will post some pictures soon. Suzy

Don't know much about this Syndrome called CBS,but from what l have heard Vitamin K and Calcium added to a conure's diet helps them if they have it.Stress in a young bird may bring it on as well thou haven't seen any facts about this being true. As far as the feathers around the nostrils, well my Conure(Nanday) has them also in between the nostrils just on the crown line and it's only feather .Have had other Conures with this trademark also...but if in doubt a Avain Visit would be recommended.. look forward to the pic's Suzy and Welcome to the forum

Just check my baby greencheeks and they don't have any red feathers around their nostrils at all. Theis heads are black and so is their feathers around their nostrils so it would be very hard to see red feathers around their face. I have never heard of that syndrome in greencheek conures. Could you send a photo through.
