All birds start to talk at different ages........some breeds of birds talk better than others. All my alex's have started to talk around the 6 month age and yes they start off with what sounds like 'babble"...........practicing there sounds. Takoda started this around the 6 month age but at about 12 months he really started in leaps and bounds. He says many things now and clearly too ;D
Our new budgie started talking about 2 or 3 weeks after we bought him home. He would have been only around 2 months old then and now he says a few things too........and he has just picked it up as we haven't really taught him.....we do play with him but he is picking up what he is hearing from us and the other birds.
My ekkie girl was talking in 2 word phrases 3 weeks after I got her and she was only around 5 months old. Now she never shuts up ;D My other alex (a female who I bought for my eldest son as a house warming present because he said he wanted one) was given back to me by my oldest son who decided she was too noisy for him (and she is extremely noisy when she screams non stop). I think she too was around the 6 month old age when she started her baby babble and she says a few things now (she is over 3 years old).
From what you say I would assume your Greeny is defintely trying to talk.
