I'm not sure if this is the correct board for alexandrain parakeets! But Tweety is getting a black ring neck! Well anyway, we recently got a new bird called Tweety, he's about 6 months old, hand raised but was not handled for two months. I've built trust with him, talking to him every day, praising him for coming near the cage door etc. He started to warm up really easily, he's such a gentle parrot with a friendly personality, we've had him for a month now and he hasn't tried to attack or be naughty in any time of that period. So far I've taught him step up, shake and flap your wings. I'm trying to teach him how to bring things to me but he's a little scared of the presence of my hand underneath his belly, wide open. Omigosh he's so heavy compared to Bicki, so much more painful as well! His claws are like raptors lol! I really need to get him a perch so I can teach him turn around, flip, wave etc. Bicki and Tweety DO NOT get along... Please tell me stories of your alexandrain parakeet!

oh ok so you have an alex now?? The black ring neck you are talking about seems to be quite normal amongst the juvenile alex's. Takoda had and still has one ever since he became fully feathered and Courtney's Matches has the same and Pauline's Vincent......the same. Vincent now has his adult ring and Takoda is starting to get his adult ring now too. Even some female alex's have that ring thingy you take about.
If you read throught this section you will read lots of posts on our Alex's. If you do a search on Matches or Takoda or Vincent or even on Courtzrocks, Petiel or Vankarhi you will find posts about our birds ;D

Yep ;D though Earl's head is looking quite rounded so I'm wondering if Earl should really be called Pearl ;D

Jules I can remember seeing the photos of Earl when you first got him and always thought he looked like a hen. How old is Earl now?

I'm not too sure Pauline as I got him/her at an auction at Birdworld. I'm guessing between 14 - 16 months old. I've been saying 'him' cos I hate the him/her thing, takes too long to type LOL Earl was also a name that could be easily changed to Pearl without confusing both me and the bird if he turned out to be she LOL I'll get an updated pic soon.

Yeah Matches is only 3 months and has a ring...not sure if it's male or female yet but has had the slight ring since he/she got her feathers. Most people think a he (so do I kinda lol) but will make sure.
