YAY she fly's 9 out of 10 times straight to me or anyone who calls her. She knows shake and step up very well...also pretty much knows wave and kiss now! Still working on spin..she doesnt really understand it lol. I am thinking of taking her to parrot playschool, i wanted her to be able to know some stuff before i do that. These "tricks" were easy but i think i will struggle with the more complicated ones...although she is a fast learner..had her just over a week now.
I took her up to my nana's and my cousins have a quaker...they didnt really like each other LOL Matches was making all kinds of noises. They thought she was great and are going to start teaching their quaker. I thought she was really small until she was next to the quaker lol, holding both the quaker was feather light and Matches was like a brick LOL! She LOVES showers too. Does anyone else think Alex's are so smart??

Courtney Matches sounds like she is really enjoying living with you. I thought Matches would turn out to be a very quick learner , she was very good and well behaved when I saw her. Alexandrines are very smart birds and they learn very easily. They are said to be like a 5 year old child.

I missed one of the earlier posts and I just wanted to tell you Courtney that Shrekie is almost 4 years old and layed her first eggs last year. She had no nest box and no male and layed 4 eggs the first time (all broke due to no nest box) and a few weeks later she layed 3 more. She had no problems what so ever and was especially friendly to me during this time. Hopefully when Alex arrives this weekend I think, she will like him when he gets put in with her in a few weeks time.

Thanks! Matches knows kiss and wave well now and is still working on spin but getting it...i can pat her a bit more now too..when she lets me...i bought a harness for her but its too big LOL she got a good few bites in until i got it over her head and then she just was chewing on the metal bits..not wrecked so i can take it back but will try see if i can take her in and get it fitted lol. She is a fast learner, i have had her almost a week and a half and had to buy a toy for her thats more complicated..too smart!
Ok there has been a glitch in my bird plan...instead of a green cheek (maybe?!?!) i might get another alex male or female whichever is opposite to Matches sex and maybe breed a few. Would like one that is green but split lutino or a really big alex. This wont be for a while though but the alex's have got me now, they can adjust easily and are just great! Seems a waste not to let matches breed a little but that wont be for a long time i know. Who knows i might change my mind again. I'm just glad the personalities dont differ to much male/female.
